At Ryoudenji Temple, SHUKUZA (morning gruel) is served in the morning in accordance with the monastic lifestyle. It is said that gruel has ten benefits, including color (add a glow to the skin), strength (to increase energy), longevity (to prolong life), and ease (not to overeat and feel at ease). The best luxury is to enjoy gruel in the serene environment of a Zen temple.
The SAIZA (lunch) at Ryoudenji Temple is based on the concept of “Chisoku Anbun”. Chisoku Anbun means to know that one has enough and to know that one’s present state is peaceful. If we consider our current state as the standard, anxiety about envy, inferiority, loss, or gain fades away. That state is comfortable.
Dining reservations can be made by phone (only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays).
